Sandra’s role in the Pain Recovery Center continues to evolve as she is more involved as the Lead Clinician and Coordinator of the program. Sandra works with the team in order to coordinate with Care New England to assist in their Spinal Pathways. Sandra’s role continues to be defined in order to meet the community’s needs as the program develops and expands.

Sandra’s interest in social work began in high school when she took courses in psychology and sociology, which then led to her choosing Clinical Social Work as her area of interest. She wanted to work in a Psychiatric Hospital with patients and their families. Sandra then went on to receive her LICSW from Rhode Island College with a concentration in Geriatrics. Today, Sandra has over 27 years of experience with people ages 4-100 years of age with a variety of settings on the continuum of care, as well as people from many different cultures.

Sandra describes her approach to care as a more holistic approach, especially with her medical background. She states that her Code of Ethics is her bible which keeps her connected to those in her profession as well as those she serves. Sandra believes in the importance of forming a trusting relationship with her clients and case managing as needed in order to help connect her clients to the community. Sandra also focuses on integrating with other community providers to build a team of support for each client. Sandra’s approach has always been a systems approach and seeing the person in the situation while also involving their family for support. Sandra enjoys providing a holistic approach and bringing hope and recovery to all.

Outside of work, Sandra’s focus is mainly on her family, however she also enjoys doing crafts, going to plays, watching movies, listening to music, and trying to bring peace into her life.
